The Easy And Affordable Way To Put A Pool In Your Yard

There are many good things that could be said about any time of the year but for most of us, it is the summer that we look forward to most. That is especially true when the weather has been brutally cold outside and we are just looking forward to getting some sun and fun in our backyard. In fact, it seems as if we begin wishing for summer shortly after the weather turns colder.

What is it that defines summer for you and your family? For some people, it may be vacation and for others, it could be going camping with friends and family. One thing that many people enjoy, however, is the backyard barbecue. Since the weather is nice, you have the opportunity to spend time outdoors and enjoy the warm weather while it is there. What are some of the things that you might enjoy outside?

Aside from the food and conversation, most people would appreciate the ability to cool down when the weather got warmer. Yes, it can be enjoyable to be outside with your family and friends but if you have a swimming pool available, imagine how much more fun you could possibly have. Admittedly, most of us have looked into a pool before and we likely backed down when we saw the price tag. Thanks to this simple idea, you can now have a beautiful pool in your backyard at a fraction of the cost of having one built by a contractor.

The way that you do so, believe it or not, is to head down to your local agriculture store and pick up a stock tank. Stock tanks, as the name would suggest, are large tanks that are designed for feeding or providing water for livestock. It is possible to repurpose them as a swimming pool and you can do so for the amazingly low price of about $350.

The Tractor Supply Company explains how easy it is to make such a project. Of course, you could always simply turn your pickup truck into a pool but it is not going to last as long and, to be quite honest, stock tanks are awesome.

One of the more difficult factors you will need to address is where to position the swimming pool in your yard. The area needs to be flat and if you don’t have one, you can create a flat location with concrete or compacted sand.

You can even create an inground pool but you need to dig a smooth lower surface.

The tanks come in a number of different sizes and once you select one, you need to clean it, add water and include the pump.

Once that is complete, they operate similarly to a conventional pool. The real difference is that it is easy to empty and refill if necessary.

“We use an above ground pool pump/filter,” Annie McCreary, the owner of a stock tank pool, wrote on Instagram. “We do add chlorine as needed, just like a regular pool/spa. I test it daily with the pool strips, [and] I shock it once a week-so easy! If it gets too funky, it’s easy to drain and re-fill.”
