The Truth About Farting And What Your Farts Expose About Your Health!

There is something that very few of us discuss but it is something that all of us do on a daily basis. In fact, if we do discuss it, we may call them by anyone of different names.

In the end, it is a bodily function that is normal and natural, although it can even be somewhat embarrassing or amusing. Of course, I’m talking about farting and when you understand what your farts are telling you, you may just know more about your health.

Farts can certainly be uncomfortable and at times, they are embarrassing. Even worse, there will be times when they are unavoidable and if you happen to let one go in the middle of a crowd, you can expect some laughter from others. What you may not know is that farting is actually responsible for the balance in the body and on average, people do it 15 times a day.

farts

The different types of farts and what they mean.

Loud Farts – Loud farts are the most embarrassing of all, even if they don’t have a scent to them. The sound of the fart occurs because of vibrations that take place when the gas exits the body. They tend to provide relief but it is best if you do it away from the hearing of others.

Farts with No Odor – This type of fart may also provide relief but the embarrassment tends to linger, long after the noise is forgotten. Most flatulence has no strong odor, but when it does, it is due to gases that form when food breaks down during the digestive process.

Smelly Farts – The carbon and hydrogen contained in farts may not produce an oder but if they contain sulfur, you might want to crack a window. When fibrous food is digested, including broccoli, cabbage and green vegetables, it produces sulfur. According to the Mayo Clinic, the smell of farts may also be quite healthy. The bacteria that make sulfide gas is important for our health, and smelling our own farts may actually produce some health benefits.

Lots of Farting – Most people fart an average of 15 times a day but if you do it more than 23 times a day, there may be problems brewing. It is not unusual to fart when you are eating a lot of fiber but other issues may also cause flatulence. Those issues include IBS, lactose intolerance and even colon cancer. If you fart excessively and are constipated, bloated or have abdominal pain, it can also be a source of concern.

Know Your Farts

Most people recognize the fact that they fart because it is a source of embarrassment. It may actually make it seem as if you are farting on a continuous basis. Try counting your farts for a few days and you will find that you are likely in line with the average.

If you tend to clear a room or make a lot of noise when you fart, don’t feel as if you are unhealthy. A high-fiber diet will cause more gas but removing the fiber from your diet can cause issues of its own.
