Have you ever had a hard time sleeping at night? You’re not alone. In fact, it is one of the most common problems that people experience and almost everybody is going to have a difficulty with sleeping at some time or another in their life. For some, however, it goes beyond an occasional night of tossing and turning and it becomes a chronic issue. For them, sleeping is something that is difficult every night. Even those who don’t have a problem sleeping may still struggle to get the recommended eight hours of sleep every night and end up with some significant sleep debt.
Insomnia is a problem that can strike in a number of different ways. For some people, it is having a difficulty falling asleep at night and for others, it is having a problem staying asleep throughout the entire night. Perhaps you have tried many different methods of trying to fall asleep that could range from quitting coffee up to taking sleeping pills. Some of them may even work on a temporary basis but unfortunately, we tend to struggle after just a short amount of relief.
That is why I was skeptical when I heard about the natural remedy known as ‘banana tea’. Once I tried it, however, I realized exactly how powerful this remedy is.
When you think about bananas, you might think about the potassium that they contain but did you know that they also contain a lot of magnesium? Magnesium helps to regulate the sleep and wake cycle, known as the circadian rhythm.
We get a certain amount of magnesium and potassium when we eat a banana but it is the peel that contains the highest levels. As you probably realize, however, the peel of the banana is not exactly the tastiest thing you could eat but don’t throw them away. You can reap the benefits of the banana peel without having to chew on it.
The easiest way to do it is to make a nice cup of banana tea. It only takes a few minutes and you already have the ingredients that are needed in your kitchen. Not only will you find that you are sleeping better at night, it will leave you feeling fantastic the following day.
Some people who suffer from sleep problems take melatonin supplements or perhaps even prescription medications. They do it to fight insomnia but on the following day, they may have certain side effects. Those side effects can include dizziness, nausea, anxiety and even fatigue. You may even become dependent on those unnatural remedies and get addicted.
The recipe for banana tea that we discuss here comes from Dr. Oz. It calls for organic bananas, and that keeps you from having to worry about harmful pesticides and chemicals. If you can’t find (or can’t afford) organic bananas, don’t be overly concerned. They are not the dirtiest fruit out there.
You should drink this banana tea one hour before bed to get the most benefit from it. Here is how to make it:
– 1 organic banana
– 1 small pot of water (enough for a regular-sized mug)
– A dash of cinnamon
1. Bring the pot of water to boil
2. Cut both ends of the banana off, then place the rest of the unpeeled fruit into the boiling water
3. Boil it for about 10 minutes, then using a strainer or colander, pour the liquid into a mug.
4. Sprinkle a dash of cinnamon into the tea and enjoy.
If you want to make it even tastier, add a dash of cinnamon to the concoction. If those who have tried it are any indication, you will love the way that it helps you sleep at night.
Have you ever made banana tea? This stuff is seriously incredible!! I mean seriously!! The idea at first grossed me out. I mean boiled banana?! ? I stand corrected. This tea before sleep is a super force before your head hits the pillow. Boil cut bananas with the skin on for several minutes. Strain the water and drink! Huddy likes milk but I can’t get my head around it! For me I add a drop of chamomile into the cup but for the kids diluted chamomile with fco and apply to chest and soles of feet. And boiled banana actually tastes great on yogurt! #bananatea #doterra #theessentialchoice #sleepsolutions
