There is just something about doing crafts that seems to appeal to me. More than likely, those of you who are reading this feel the same way. Whey you are able to finish a project, there is nothing like the feeling it gives you. When you think about all of the positive benefits of doing crafts, it is little wonder that we love doing them so much.
The benefits that we could list could go on and on but there is also a problem that many crafters face. Sooner or later, they are going to run out of room and the dining room table may just not provide all that they need. It may be ok for a short term solution but sooner or later, you will start looking for more space.
Jenny from the blog De Jong Dream House had a similar dilemma. If there is one thing we know about crafters, however, it’s the fact that they are able to think outside of the box. Jenny came up with a unique solution.
The first thing she did was found a room in the home that was suitable for crafting. This isn’t going to be the same for everyone, but you can find a spot too, if you look hard enough.
She then built a work table and storage unit that was going to fill all of her needs. She knew it had to have a nice working surface, as well as plenty of space to store her stuff.
That is when she took a trip to IKEA and bough 3 bookshelves. Two of them were 4×2 and the other was 2×2. The longer bookshelves were placed back to back in the middle of the room and the smaller made up one of the ends.
The cubicles were then filled with all of her crafting supplies. It only took a few hours from start to finish but she was able to create a great space and declutter the room in the process.
Jenny now had to figure out how to get a smooth surface to cover the space where the bookshelves met. She then made a trip to Home Depot.
When she saw an unbored, unfinished door, she knew she had what was necessary to finish the project. The best thing was, it was exactly the size she needed. Jenny then put it in place, used some grain stain to color the new top and used purple duct tape around the edges. In the end, it was just what she (and you) needed.
