She Was Burning Scented Candles In The House. Then She Noticed THIS In The Baby’s Nose

When we look around our home, we may see a variety of different items that we consider to be safe. Actually, we may use them on a regular basis and even assume that they are a necessity in life.

A good example of this are scented candles, and many homes find them to be a popular item, as it can help you to relax or get rid of unpleasant odors. The unfortunate reality about scented candles, however, is that they could be causing serious problems.

Researchers have recently shown that scented candles could pose potential harm to those who live in the household. A professor at the National Center for Atmospheric Science found that one of the common ingredients included within scented candles is formaldehyde. In fact, it is part of what gives those scented candles their unique smell. When the candle is burned, the formaldehyde turns into a poisonous gas. The specific chemical responsible for the poison is limonene. It produces the citrus scent that is so popular in many scented candles.

Limonene is a safe chemical when it is used in an unaltered state. In fact, you will find it listed as an ingredient in many cleaning supplies because it produces that fresh scent.

The issue comes about when limonene is burning. When it burns, there is a 50% chance that it will mutate into formaldehyde. Not only is formaldehyde listed as a potential carcinogen, it can damage your health in other ways as well. In addition, our homes tend to be airtight, so once it is in the air, it continues to cause damage.

If you plan on buying scented candles, at least open a window or door to promote air exchange. This allows the formaldehyde to escape and limits the potential problem.
