There are plenty of us who can remember the days when we used to watch movies on VHS tapes. If you are one of those individuals, you likely have some old Disney tapes in a box somewhere. You might not want to throw them away just yet. The good news is, they might just be worth a lot of money!
Old VHS Disney movies are sometimes selling for a shockingly high price. It is not out of the ordinary for those movies to sell for anywhere between $1000 up to $10,000. As example, one of the more valuable of the Disney VHS tapes is Beauty and the Beast. There have been people who have sold copies of that VHS tape on eBay for $9,000.
If you’re curious as to why they are so highly priced, it is because they have become a collectors item. As a collectors item, there are collectors who are willing to pay the price. Of course, some of the tapes are going to be more valuable than others in the eyes of collectors. One of the reasons why the tape might be valuable is if there is a black diamond on the side that is labeled “The Classics.”
When you have a special edition tape such as that, it might be worth $250 or so. If the diamond has Disney’s signature next to it, it may be worth thousands.
A version of the Little Mermaid was sold at a sweet price. The price was $6,000, because there was some banned artwork on the cover. You might be surprised how often this happens.
If you are fortunate enough to have a copy of Beauty and the Beast that includes the song “Human Again” it is worth a lot of money. The song didn’t make the final cut.
